Micro-Star International (MSI) today launched the S262, its first notebook based on Intel’s new Centrino Duo mobile technology, featuring a carbon-fiber cover and a 12.1-inch widescreen LCD display.

With Intel’s Napa platform, the MSI S262 supports 65nm dual-core Yonah processors, the 945GM chipset series and the Intel PRO/ Wireless 3945 a/b/g network solution. The Napa-based model also provides tri-band 802.11a/b/g wireless connectivity, enabling users to use the Internet wherever they are.

In addition, the S262 series delivers Dolby surround sound capability and has a DVD burner, offering up to 8.5GB in storage capacity.

Dual-core chips deliver PC performance boost

The AP has a little comparison of the Dell Dimension 9100 running Intel's dual-core Pentium D 840 and an Alienware Aurora 7500 based on AMD's dual-core Athlon 64 X2 4800+ chips.

IBM dual core IntelliStation M Pro 6218

Next month, IBM will ship a new workstation built around Intel's dual-core Pentium D. The new IntelliStation M Pro uses a 64-bit, dual-core Intel Pentium D and can support 8 GB of memory. The IntelliStation line of workstations is designed for critical business operations, such as mechanical design, electronic design, drug analysis and digital content creation writes entmag.com

The IBM IntelliStation M Pro 6218 is set to ship in September at a starting price of $1,479. The M Pro will be available with Microsoft Windows XP Professional pre-loaded and is certified for 32- and 64-bit versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. Graphics options for the M Pro range from multi-monitor capable 2D cards to extreme 3D cards from ATI, Nvidia and 3DLabs.

Fujitsu Siemens reveals new series of low-energy workstations based on Advanced Micro Devices' dual-core 64-bit Opteron processors

Tuesday, Fujitsu Siemens Computer launched a new series of high-performance, low-energy workstations based on Advanced Micro Devices' dual-core 64-bit Opteron processors.

Fujitsu Siemens' Celsius V workstations target users requiring intensive calculation and graphics performance in areas such as engineering, digital content creation, visualization, virtual reality, and scientific computing, the companies say. The workstations can be equipped with dual-core AMD Opteron 275, 270, and 265 chips, the companies say.

AMD to launch low-power dual-core processor for mobile computers in early 2006

Advanced Micro Devices or AMD plans to release low-power dual-core processor for mobile computers in early 2006, which is approximate release timeframe of Intel's dual-core Intel Pentium M code-named Yonah chip reports xbitlabs.

According to InformationWeek, AMD plans to the dual-core AMD Turion 64 central processing units in volume early next year, in an effort to stay on top of rival Intel Corp., which launches its new Intel Centrino mobile platform powered by dual-core Intel Yonah processor in early 2006 too.

AMD Turion 64 mobile processors share AMD64 architecture with the desktop and server Athlon 64 and Opteron chips.
