Buffalo JP has announced the small-sized USB 2.0 flash memory "ClipDrive Mini" series. The ClipDrive Mini will be available in Japan from January 2005. Price is speculated at 3,000 Yen for the 128MB model and 4,000 Yen for the 256MB model. Works with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS editions after 9.0 - 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.1. The Mini features a maximum reading of 10.5MB/sec

Measures 56.7x17.5x8mm and weighs 12.5 g. Available in color red, navy, pink and silver

Logitech JP has announced the introduction of 5 new 300GB hard drives to their line up. The hard drives differs in the interface each adopts. All feature 7,200rpm transfer.

Models include the USB2.0 - 39,795 Yen "LHD-HA300U2" external hard drive. Works with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.0.4 - 10.3.7.
The IEEE 1394/USB 2.0 - 42,105 Yen "LHD-HA300FU2" external hard drive. Works with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.0.4 - 10.3.7.
The IEEE 1394b/USB 2.0 - 47,460 Yen "LHD-HA300BFU2" external hard drive. Works with Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.0.4 - 10.3.7.

Iomega has started shipping three triple-interface models of the newly redesigned Iomega External Hard Drive. All three models, which come complete with backup and disaster recovery software, include USB 2.0(Hi-Speed USB), FireWire 400, and FireWire 800 interfaces. All are 7200 RPM drives, whisper-quiet , packaged in a sleek and functional new enclosure with a high-gloss black finish, Kensington security slot for high-traffic locations and an on/off switch for powering down the drive.
New triple-interface drives (USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800) are now shipping for availability at major retailers and online, with pricing starting at $199 for the 160GB model, $279 for the 250GB model, and $429 for the 400GB model.

Buffalo JP has announced the "LUA-U2-GT," a USB 2.0 LAN adapter supporting Gigabit Ethernet. The LUA-U2-GT will be available in Japan late January 2005 for around 6850 yen. The LUA-U2-GT supports 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, and 1000Base-T networks, which connects your PC's USB 2.0 port (480Mbps transfer peak).

Measures 41 x 17.4 x 79.3mm (W x D x H), and weighs about 121g.

Everything USB reports on an SD Card with USB 2.0 interface from Taiwanese-manufacturer Digimaster. This is the first SD card that can double as a USB flash drive. Which gives you the ability to use it in devices that support SD (cameras, phones, PDAs, etc.), while the USB end can be used in a laptop or PC. Initially, 128MB version will retail for $880 (Taiwan New Dollars) and 256MB for $1280.

IO JP has announced the "HDL-W500U" a new addition to their Landisk series -- the 500GB portable HDD with Ethernet port is set for release January 2005 in Japan for around 72,450 Yen. Will work with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.1 - 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.3.6.

Features include two 250 GB Hard drives which can be used separate or as one unit, two USB ports, 267Mhz CPU, FTP transfer at 94.5Mbps, ability to be used as a server for the IO AVeL LinkPlayer network dvd player and access to files without starting your PC
Measures 68x265x131 & weighs approximately 2.1 kg.

Ratoc JP has introduced a new USB 2.0 external RAID1 case "U2-DK2R". The "U2-DK2R" will be available later this month for around 55,650 Yen. Works with Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP. Features include USB 2.0 interface, regular automatic backup function & hot swap capabilities which allows you to change HDD without cutting power.

Lexar Media has introduced a new USB flash drive about the size of a penny. The 12-millimeters wide, 4.5 mm high and 31.75mm long USB FlashCard will join the multitude of already available flash cards, what should set the FlashCard apart is that fits into a standard USB socket, so you could plug right into your computer. Lexar plans to release full-speed versions of its USB FlashCard in 16-megabyte, 32MB and 64MB capacities, as well as high-speed versions in 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1-gigabyte capacities with a 60MB-per-second interface speed in 2005. Pricing was not released.

Toshiba JP has unveiled the worlds first commerical perpendicular recording system which would realize higher recording density compared with the conventional longitude recording system - The perpendicular recording system will be developed in 40GB and 80GB 1.8 inches HDD models. Mass Production of the 40GB "MK4007GAL" 1st quarter 2005 & "the 80GB 'MK8007GAH" 2nd quarter 2005. So basically you could expect an 80GB iPod sometime then.

Features include rpm 4,200rpm, 206Mb per square mm data density & Ultra DMA/100 interface. The 40GB models measures 54x78.5x5mm & weighs 51 g while the 80GB model measures 54x78.5x8mm & weighs 62 g.
Toshiba plans a 0.85" HDD perpendicular recording system in the future.
