Palm, Inc. and Verizon Wireless have announced the availability of the Palm Treo 700w smartphone, the first Treo smartphone to take advantage of Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service on its EV-DO network. The Treo 700w smartphone also is the first Treo smartphone to run the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system, bringing the hallmark Palm ease of use to Windows Mobile for the first time.

Palm One's Treo 700w will launch on January 5 according to reports. Users will be able to acquire the Treo 700w for $619.99 or for $499.99 after a rebate with two-year contract.
