Microsoft Corp. will cut the price of the Xbox 360 by $50 early next month, Hollywood Reporter reports
The reduction will be made Aug. 8, according to one source in the retail world.
A Microsoft spokesman said: "We have no announcements to make on pricing at this time. While price matters, content is king. And no other system is offering all the games people want to play this holiday at a better price than Xbox 360."

Robert Sanchez, editor of The Movie Reporter, claims to have gotten his hands on the Transformers's script and reveals a few more new Transformers that may make it into the movie.
"I almost forgot to mention one of the most stupid scenes in the script," he writes on the site. "For reasons that I won't get into, we see an iPod, Xbox 360, and plasma screens sprout legs and transform just a bit." It's unclear whether the Xbox 360 Transformer is an Autobot or Decepticon.

Devil360.com says they did not manage to get the product ready for (6/6/6), because they are working hard on improving it to:
* Try to protect it from any type of update
* Make it programmable via PC
* Boot unsigned code
* Allow to swap HD with larger drive with a special interface between the 360 and the HD (all types IDE/SATA).
Gaming SIte, Joystiq chatted with Aaron Greenberg, Group Marketing Manager for Xbox Live, about the first major update to the Xbox 360 since last November's launch.
The spring update is expected to be released to all Xbox Live users "in about a week" and will be followed up with a fall update, as part of their plan to release two major updates each year.
