NYtimes is reporting that the possible TiVo deal with the countries largest cable provider - Comcast is down the drain. The deal with Comcast could have given TiVo credited as one of the pioneers in the digital recording industry renewed life after loosing DirecTV who will stop pushing TiVo in favor of their own DVR. Due to Comcast's tight grip on the cash and control Michael Ramsay, TiVo's chief executive, decided to pull out of the deal. Ramsay's decision was backed by the board. Just Last week, TiVo announced that Mr. Ramsay was stepping down as chief executive but would remain as chairman. He said the change was his idea and had been under discussion for months. The board hopes to hire someone with less of Mr. Ramsay's fierce belief in the power of TiVo's technology. umm OK. Just to clarify that Comcast deal apparently had nothing to do with him stepping down. According to Seattle Times many agree that TiVo's service remains the best of breed, with its easy navigational controls and advanced search and record functions. So we shall see if TiVo can survive.
