EJK's contact less Thermometer

EJK, Japan has announced a new contact less Thermometer. Just place it near the skin and you get accurate readings in under 3 seconds. It detects the infrared ray emitted by the body due to heat generation. The contact less thermometer takes only 3 seconds where as traditional thermometers take 60 to 90 seconds for temperature reading. The main advantage is that being contact less there is no need for sterilization after use. The unit is 16 centimeters in length and weighs 99 grams.

RGB Spectrum QuadViewÆ XL imaging processor

Scientific Vision Systems, has announced the availability of the advanced RGB Spectrum QuadViewÆ XL imaging processor for the most demanding medical applications. The QuadViewÆ XL allows surgeons, operating room personnel, and radiologists to simultaneously view input from four (4) different video or computer sources on a single screen.

The monitor accepts high resolution RGB, HDTV, S-Video, component and NTSC/PAL composite video, and/or optional DVI inputs. Operating room personnel can connect up to 16 inputs, four of which can be displayed simultaneously.

Each of the 16 inputs can be individually sized and positioned anywhere on the screen. As well, each input can also be panned and zoomed to emphasize areas of particular interest using the proprietary smooth zoom and pan feature. The processor provides users with a nearly infinite set of display choices including quad split, side-by-side, picture-in-picture, and overlapping windows. In addition, the Quadview XL supports real time, dynamic movement and resizing of windows.

Sharp, Japan has announced the Papyrus PW-9920, a new electronic dictionary set to go on sale from January 27 priced at 44,100 yen.

The PW-9920 is stylishly designed but maintains the solid construction of previous models thanks to the "New Inner Protect" system. The outer casing is made of aluminium panel while high-strength metal plating is used to protect the LCD panel from external pressure or force.

The 63 installed content sources are closely related to daily life and include Kojien (5th ed.), Genius E-J/J-E dictionary and Mypedia encyclopedic dictionary. In particular, health-related contents have been strengthened to include items such as the "NHK Diet Brain" dictionary that summarises current knowledge about diet and health.

The dictionary is 141 x 107 x 16 mm in size and weighs approximately 260 grams (including battery). It has a 320x240 5.4" FSTN LCD screen that can display a maximum of 32 characters x 18 lines (using a 9pt font). Power is supplied by 2 AAA batteries.

Neuros is to update its MPEG-4 Video Recorder

Neuros is to update its MPEG-4 Video Recorder with a new industrial design and an integrated hard-disk drive writes the Register.

Neuros will offer a hard drive-equipped version of its Recorder 2 product, offering 40-120GB of storage on which to encode video in iPod- and PlayStation Portable-compatible formats. The move addresses one of the limitations of the current Recorder 2 - the need to store recordings on memory cards.
