Impress Watch is reporting that AAC files created with iTunes can be played on the PSP. PSP VAULT give a how to.
You'll need to change the extension of the AAC files to .MP4. After that the files can be played without any issues. Though the track names are recognized by the PSP, the album and artist names are not.

Sony recently released Fireware 2.0 for the Sony PSP in Japan, excited by all the new features, including a real browser, North American users started to install the fireware. Sony is asking those first adopters to stop. WHY? umm , it is anyone's guess

According to davesipaq if you have Sony PlayStation Portable and a Wifi connection you could totally download Podcasts to your PSP. cool

Thursay, Sony officials said the company will release a software upgrade that will let the PlayStation Portable video game system surf the Web reports Washington Post.
The free software patch will be available next week in Japan, said Ken Kutaragi, chief executive of Sony Corp.'s game unit.
The PSP comes with a built-in antenna for wireless Internet access, but the only way to use it for surfing the Web has been to modify a limited browsing feature in the racing game "Wipeout Pure."

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that 5.07 million PSP consoles have been shipped around the globe so far, with more than half of that number being sold to North America.
The Japanese giant unveiled the figures at the PlayStation Summit in Tokyo, revealing that 2.33 million units have been shipped to Japan and Asia, while 2.74 million have been sold to the US and Canada.

Sony, Japan has announced a new PSP value pack in white. The company also announced Firmware 2.0, Firmware 2.0 should be available in Japan this coming Wednesday, with the new white PSP due out September 15th. The new update adds WPA, a web browser, a new mode for wirelessly swapping images with other PSP users, and support for Portable TV for transmitting video directly to a PSP.
