Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic) JP has announced The Digicam NV-GS150 their new camcorder touted as the worlds smallest 3 megapixel CCD camcorder. Measures 71 x 73 x 123mm and weighs 420 grams . Features include a 2.32 megapixel CCD (800,000 x 3 pixel), miniDV, SD slot, largest still image 1760x1320 pixel resolution, supports (IEEE 1394) , USB2.0 interface, and works with Windows 2000 (after SP4) and Windows XP (after SP1).

Available in Japan on January 25th for 79,800 yen, ($777 USD)

Konica Minolta has announced the black and silver DG-5W a four megapixel waterproof camera. Features include waterproof to a depth of 1.5 meters, a 28 - 78mm wide-angle lens, 2-inch LCD for viewing captured images, large buttons for easy operation under water and 320 x 240-pixel movie mode at 30 fps. The DG-5W will be released in March for 80,00 Yen. Japan

LG Electronics, Inc. has announced the LRM-519 touted as the world's first DVD recorder with digital video recorder (DVR) functionality using new software technology from Microsoft Corp. Features include a 160-gigabyte internal hard-disc-drive (HDD) with an electronic program guide (EPG), stores up to 160 hours of conventional analog TV programming on HDD, program burning from HDD to DVD (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD+R Double Layer), 90-minute buffer time for Live TV, supports the Microsoft PlaysForSure logo program, PC connectivity using technology from Microsoft, support for wired or wireless in-home networking, enables playback of music, pictures, and video with computers running Windows XP and Windows XP Media Center Edition over a home network ( Supports MPEG, Windows Media Audio and Video (WMA/WMV), MP3 and JPEG images on TV). Supported network connections include Ethernet or Wi-fi (802.11a/g). This wireless connection is four-to-five times faster than that of 802.11b, enabling seamless data reception.

LG plans to introduce the LG LRM-519 in the United States by fall 2005.

SanDisk Corporation has introduced an SD flash memory card with built-in USB connectivity. Users can plug the SD card into any SD card slot, then plug it into any USB port without needing an SD card reader to transfer data, images, audio or video between computers, digital cameras and other electronic devices. Features include high-speed 2.0 USB flash drive within the small SD form factor and LED that blinks when data transfer is taking place to indicate that the card is being used as a USB flash drive.
The SanDisk, SD flash memory card with built-in USB connectivity is scheduled to be introduced in Q1, 2005.

Victor Corporation (JVC) Japan has announced the "GR-D250," their latest addition in the "Baby Movie" DV camera series line. The GR-D250 is expected mid January for around 60,000 yen in Japan. Features include a 25x optical zoom lens (industry's first DV camera 25x optical zoom lens), F value of 1.8 ~ 3.2, and has a focal distance of 42 ~ 1050mm through 35mm conversion, 1/6 type 680,000 pixel CCD sensor (recording area of 340,000 pixels), 2.5" screen - 112,000 pixel Clear Bright LCD Monitor, LCD viewfinder, 0.16" at 113,000 pixels.
Measures 56 x 112 x 94mm and the weighs 510g. 1 hour and 25 minutes battery life when using the LCD monitor

Toshiba has announced plans to introduce the gigashot family of Video/Still Cameras later this year. The gigashot Video/Still Cameras will be hard drive based and will use the Toshiba developed . 85" and 1.8" hard drives. Gigashot will combine a high quality video camera with a still camera. Using MPEG-2 video, gigashot let's consumers transfer their home movies directly without conversion onto DVD via their DVD recorder or PC. Engadget reports from CES on a 4GB model using the .85" hard drive. Features of model include ability to store up to two hours of MPEG-2 video footage, SD card slot, 5 megapixel digital camera, with a 5x optical zoom and electronic image stabilizer. The Gigashot measures 1.2x 4.125 x 2.625 inches, weighs 10 ounces and also has an SD card slot

The gigashot series of hard drive based camcorders will ship in the fall of this year.

CES 2005 - Kodak Co. has announced "Easyshare-One" a high-end digital camera that gives you the ability to e-mail pictures directly from the camera via Wi-Fi (802.11b Wireless LAN). Features include 3-inch touch screen display, 256 MB of memory built-in and can store up to 1,500 pictures, video recording capabilities, ability to view stored photos on Ofoto, ability to access Kodak's Ofoto service for Internet photo printing.

Available later this year for about $600. Additional $100 for card to let the camera work with Wi-Fi wireless technology.

Olympus has announced three new digital cameras, including the C-5500 Sport Zoom, Olympus D-425 , and the C-7070 Wide Zoom.
The 5.1-megapixel CCD "C-5500" (end left image) features include a 2-inch LCD, 5x optical zoom lens, 4x digital zoom, fast startup (< one-second) and a burst mode of 2.7 fps. The C-5500 measures 4.9" x 3.3" x 3.9" and weighs 8.6 ounces. Available next month for $350.
The Olympus D-425 (middle image) features include "One Touch" configuration, built-in help guide, 4.0 megapixels resolution, PictBridge technology and 4x digital zoom. The D-425 measures 4.0" x 2.0" x 1.4" and weighs 4.2 ounces. Available next month for $150
The C-7070 (end right image) Wide Zoom features include a 7.1-megapixel CCD, internal popup flash, a 4x optical zoom ultra-wide-angle lens and a 1.8-inch swivel LCD. Available next month for $700

PENTAX has announced the OptioWP, their new compact digital camera that features JIS Class 8-equivalent waterproof performance (enables approx. 30 minutes of continuous underwater shooting at a depth of up to 1.5m) and 22mm thick body. Other features include a 2.0-inch LCD monitor, a 3X optical zoom lens and the imaging power of 5.0 effective megapixels.

The "VPC-C4" high-resolution 4.0 megapixel digital camera is the latest addition to Sanyo's Digital Media Cameras line up. Features include built-in digital image stabilization for accurate, steady shooting, real-time interpolation to convert the CCD's 4.0 effective megapixels to a recorded equivalent of 8.0 megapixels, a trans-reflective 1.8-inch TFT LCD color monitor, records both digital still images and video onto a standard SD flash memory card, the recorded files can be uploaded via USB 2.0 to a PC or Mac for viewing and sharing via e-mail.
Manufacturer's suggested retail price is TBA. Availability is scheduled for 1st Half 2005.
