At a presentation event last month, Motorola revealed brief details & a photo of the ROKR E2 (pictured). The capsule shape phone was shown in black, featuring a dedicated iTunes music key and track-ball-like navigational pad. Unlike the ROKR E1, which is was based on a candy-bar form-factor, the ROKR E2 appears to sport Motorola's PEBL industrial design writes AppleInsider
The ROKR E2 will feature a Bluetooth stereo headset and "rapid USB2-enabled downloads." The handset is also expected to feature a "richer mobile music experience" and support for UMTS -- a 3G mobile system news and information provider.

UK wireless operator O2 will market and provide service for Motorola's forthcoming iTunes ROKR music phones, according to UK's The Times Online.
The Motorola, Apple and O2 are expected to announce the agreement after Motorola and Apple unveil their partnership with Cingular wireless in the United States writers Apple Insider

Tuesday, Ovum analyst Roger Entner said that Cingular Wireless, the wireless venture of SBC Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp. will announce plans next week to sell a Motorola Inc. mobile phone that plays music using Apple Computer Inc.'s iTunes software reports Reuters.
Cingular, could introduce the phone at an Apple event scheduled for September 7 in San Francisco, becoming the first mobile operator to offer such a product.
"Industry sources tell me that there will be a joint announcement between Motorola, Apple and Cingular announcing the launch of a branded Cingular offer with iTunes," Ovum analyst Roger Entner said.

The FCC has approved the E790, one of Motorola's first music phones. The E790 is GSM quad-band and will work on every GSM network in the world. According to docs on the FCC site it is also hinted that the E790 will support the faster EDGE data protocol (80Kb/sec in real life). The E790 will have iTunes support along with an additional "music" key. More standard features like SD card slot and Bluetooth wireless.

A draft of a user manual for Motorola's E790 GSM mobile handset contains several pages dedicated to an embedded version of Apple's iTunes jukebox software, AppleInsider reports
The E790, aka "Motorola ROKR Model E1" will be one of Motorola's first music phones. In a 5-page portion of the E790 manual, Motorola describes the basic functions of the iTunes mobile software, which can be controlled largely by the handset's navigational key.
"iTunes is a software application you use to manage the music on your computer and transfer music to your phone," reads the Motorola documentation. "You can use iTunes to purchase and download music for your phone, listen to CDs and digital music, and create playlists of your favorite songs on your phone."

Engadget is Blogging Live from the Motonow event. The iTunes phone is expected to be unveiled tonight. So far the guys snapped this picture of what could be the iTunes phone, the image is a little dark but it looks nice so far.
Update: It's the Motorola ROKR family and CEO Ed Zander says the iTunes launch is not today.

An insider speaking to Engadget revealed that Steve Jobs is planning to attend Motorola's upcoming media and analyst event on July 25th to help Motorola CEO Ed Zander unveil the ROKR E1, the first iTunes phone.
The phone will launch in the UK in July and in the US at the end of August. The E1 will be under $200, store 25 songs (50 songs if your country does not have an iTunes store), with a 100 song upgrade available from Apple.
