Apple iPod Hi-fi Pictures + Apple iPod Hi-Fi hands-on

Right after Apple Computer revealed the iPod Hi-fi, the press slipped into to a bedroom upstairs for a steamy session with the iPod Hi-fi. As the photo Evidence shows at engadget..clothes came off. After all the build up for Apple's fun event today, I am a little disappointed... this certainly is not a must have for me... yes it's pretty.. but I never listen to music at home... so this would just catch dust...

Putting Your DVDs on a Video iPod

Wired has a how to 'Put Your DVDs on a Video iPod' . Yes you would be breaking the law, but you could always say it was research for an article...

1. Decrypt the DISC Software like DVDFab Decrypter (www.dvdidle.com/free.htm) removes a DVD's copy protection. Remember, this is the illegal part, which is why DVD decrypting software is always a moving target. Should DVDFab disappear, a replacement is just a Google search away.

2. Combine the Video files
Ripping a DVD produces a bunch of cryptically named .VOB files. VOBMerge 2.5 (medlem.spray.se/evilmastr/mainmenu.php) will string them together. To find the movie, look for a series of very large files named something like VTS_07_1.VOB, VTS_07_2.VOB, and so on.

3. Convert the Movie
Use an app like 3GP_Converter (www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=3GP_Converter) to turn your movie into an iPod-compatible MPEG-4 file. Select "Model: MP4, for iPod" as the conversion mode (there is also an option for the PSP). The resulting file is ready for iTunes.

Listen to your iPod using your forearm

Researchers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have developed a chip that allows you to listen to an iPod using your forearm as the transmission wire for the audio signals reports CNET

KAIST believes the prototype chip solves some of the problems encountered in setting up personal-area networks that take advantage of the body's ability to conduct electricity. Computer scientists have long envisioned connecting the numerous personal electronic devices the average technology fan carries around each day, but wiring those devices together is impractical, and Bluetooth connections are prone to interference, said Seong-Jun Song, a professor at KAIST.

Apple repairing iPod nano screens free-of-charge

Apple repairing iPod nano screens free-of-charge

Apple Computer, which last year said cracks in the displays of its iPod nano digital music players were an isolated issue, continues this year to repair such damages free-of-charge and has instructed its partners to do the same reports Apple Insider

In a message last week to its service providers in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, the company said any customer reporting that their iPod nano's screen had cracked should have their repairs processed as "covered repairs."

"The AppleCare Repair Center will also be processing such repairs as covered repairs," the company added. This means iPod nano owners with cracked displays should be able to contact AppleCare via telephone to arrange for their players to be serviced under warranty.
