Apple to hold special event on Feb. 28

Apple has sent out an invitation to select media, to a special event that will be held at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California on February 28th. reports iLounge

The invitation, which only features the iCal-like calendar image reads: “Come see some fun new products from Apple.” The special event begins at 9:00 a.m. at Apple Town Hall, Building 4.

According to New tech Spy, Apple Computer is planning to introduce user programmable “Mini-touch finger LCD’s on new Apple Computers..

The new touch finger LCD’s will appear first on Apple’s Macbook Pro along both sides of the scrolling touchpad, as an addition to the manual numeric function keys, but will eventually replace them all together. User input will be the driving force to what happens next, as a generation of people will have to slowly adjust to the new system. History shows that change does not come easy, with less than 1% of the notebook market in 2005 being captured by tablet PC’s. It seems notebook users are very careful when adapting to new technology.

Apple beginning to phase out the 15" PowerBook?

TUAW is reporting that Apple could be phasing out the 15" PowerBook. The TUAW tipster who manages an Apple B2B program for a U.S. institute, recently, noticed that the 15" PowerBook had disappeared from their program's offerings. The tipster reportedly called up, his Apple sales rep who explained that it would slowly begin disappearing from other catalogs as well.







Apple iTunes first billion.

Apple has sold 30 million songs through iTunes in ten days and is closing in on selling its first billion. To Celebrate 1 billion, Apple is offering prizes: every person buying a 100,000th song gets a black 4GB iPod nano and a $100 iTunes Music Card.

The person who downloads the billionth song from the iTunes Music Store will receive a 20-inch iMac, a $10,000 iTunes Music Card, and ten 60GB iPods.

Apple will also launch a full scholarship in the winner's name at a world-renowned music school.
