Apple dual-core Power Mac G5s based on dual-core IBM PowerPC processors

Hipster company, Apple will reportedly ship new Power Mac G5 desktops based on dual-core IBM PowerPC processors, by the end of the month reports the register. According to a spy speaking to Think Secret, IBM's dual-core PowerPC 970MP will drive the new Power Mac lineup

While the part is not expected to clock above 2.7GHz, by equipping each two-processor machine with four processing cores instead of two, Mac users should see a hefty performance increase.

The sources also claimed Apple's Powerbook line will not now be updated before January 2006.

Proof - Apple Is Planning A Video Store

While running through iTunes 5, fscklog came across the icons pictured - "Gift Video," "Buy Video," and "Add Video." The phrase "Protected MPEG-4 video file" was also found in iTunes 5. That said, I am going to assume, that Apple Computer is planning a Video iPod to go with the launch of the Video Store. via Gear Live

Apple may build video cams into future Apple Computers

An Apple patent application March 12, 2004 reveals that the company considered integrating a video camera into the latch of a future laptop design reports Apple Insider.

"The portable computer further includes a latch including a data capture device such as a camera that is configured to secure the lid to the base," the filing reads.

According to the filing, the invention includes a positioning device for controlling the rotation of the latch about an axis. The camera also includes a charge coupled device (CCD) image sensor or a complimentary oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor.

Apple Pie : iTunes Phone. Video iPod

Apple Computer will reportedly upgrade both its iPod mini and iPod shuffle lines of music players, but most likely not at its media event next week, Think Secret has learned. The media event will instead be devoted almost exclusively to the new iTunes-enabled Motorola phone and the company's partnership with Cingular.

The new phone will reportedly be available in two capacities, 256MB and 512MB, capable of storing about 70 and 140 songs, respectively. Users will not only be able to plug the phone into their computer to tap their iTunes Music Library for tunes, but will also have the ability of buying songs on the fly over Cingular's network, probably for about $2 a song, sources report.

Video iPod coming Soon?
