Sonnet Technologies has launched its PodFreq mini, a FM transmitter, integrated dock and protective case for iPod mini. PodFreq mini broadcasts tunes to any nearby car, home, or portable FM radio reports Macnn. PodFreq mini connects to iPod mini through its dock connector to take advantage of the consistent-level, line-out signal. Users can tune and broadcast to any clear station between 88.1MHz and 107.9MHz using up/down tuning buttons and the built-in, backlit display.

Apple says the next version of its iTunes music management program will give people a way to find and subscribe to podcasts, MP3 audio files online.
Podcasts are downloadable "radio shows" that can be created and listened to by anyone with the right equipment.
Listeners subscribe to shows for free, the latest of which is sent automatically to digital music players.
Free programs have been built to do this already, but now Apple says iTunes will have this function built in.
"With the next version of iTunes, due within 60 days, there will now be an easy way for everyone to find and subscribe to podcasts", Apple said in a statement.

Apple Computer Inc has been in talks that could lead to it using Intel Corp. chips in its Macintosh computers, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The report, citing two industry executives with knowledge of recent discussions between the companies, said Apple was expected to agree to use Intel chips. But it said the talks could break down or could be a tactic to gain negotiating leverage with Apple's current chip supplier, International Business Machines Corp. Read More

Apple Computer Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall on batteries used in some Apple iBook G4 and PowerBook G4 laptop computers, saying the batteries could overheat and pose a fire hazard to consumers.
About 128,000 units in the United States are affected by the problem, which is an internal short in the batteries made by LG Chem Ltd. of South Korea and assembled in Taiwan and China, the Commission and Apple said.
The recalled lithium ion batteries are used with the 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.
The recalled batteries include those with model number A1061, A1078 and A1079 and serial numbers that begin with HQ441 through HQ507 or 3X446 through 3X510.

Apple Computer could start offering a subscription-based model for downloading songs from the iTunes by the year's end if they notice any loss of revenues to Napster, Real and Yahoo! subscription based service. This would be to protect the interests of the consumer who have bought iPod. Apple prohibits iPod to play songs downloaded from other online stores. This is a primary reason why they manage to sell a million plus songs from their iTunes music store on a daily basis. iPod is a Hot Seller in the market.

Apple on Tuesday launched four new European iTunes Music Stores and posted a new version of its iTunes jukebox software. The new stores in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland join the list of previously existing iTunes Music Stores now in a total of 19 countries. With the extra four countries, ITMS now reaches 70 per cent of the world's music buyers Apple said.

Apple Computer was granted the patent for a Macintosh "Electronic device." The patent filed on March 17th, 2004 was granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as US Design Patent No. D504,899 on May 10, 2005.
Illustrations for the device indicate it to be a tablet-style Macintosh, and patent filings specifically compare it to the "HP Compaq Tablet PC" and several other tablet machines. More

Apple Computer introduced an updated version of its iMac G5 computer Tuesday to include faster 64-bit processors and graphics capabilities.
The new three iMacs feature PowerPC G5 processors up to 2.0GHz, include built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and run Apple's newest OS, Mac OS X version 10.4, dubbed "Tiger," which went on sale last Friday. Two of the new systems include a new 8X optical drive with double-layer DVD support.
