A manual for the European version of the HDR-HC3 camcorder, a lower-end follow-up to the popular high definition (HD) HCR-HC1, has been released on the Internet. The new HC3 features the ability to record 1080i HD quality video, a 1/3” CMOS sensor, a 2,103,000 gross pixel count, and a 10x optical zoom.
It is unclear if the HDR-HC3 is a replacement for the HDR-HC1 or meant to complement it in the line writes CamCorderInfo. It is lighter and has many features taken away including the mic jack and zoom ring, according to the released manual. The HDR-HC3, the manual states, will use a Carl Zeiss-Sonnar T* lens, with a 30mm filter diameter with 10x optical and 80x digital zoom, a focal length of 5.1 – 51mm, with a 35mm equivalent of 41.3mm – 485mm in 16:9 aspect ratio, and 50.5 – 594mm in 4:3 aspect ratio.

Sony, Japan has unveiled their new Handycam DCR-SR100, featuring a 30GB hard disk drive. The 30GB HDD allows you to record up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of video in HQ mode (9Mbps), 10 hours and 50 minutes of video in SP mode (6Mbps), or 20 hours and 50 minutes of video in LP mode (3Mbps) writes portablegadgets.net
The DCR-SR100 comes with advanced shock proof design to protect its 1.8-inch HDD even when you’re recording your video. It employs a CCD sensor with effective resolutions of up to 2.06-megapixel for video and up to 3.05-megapixel for still image. Its lenses provide up to 10x optical zoom (up to total of 120x zoom including digital zoom in video recording mode), F1.8~2.9 aperture, 42.8~495mm (16:9) or 45~450mm (4:3) focal length in video mode and 40.6~406 (16:9) or 37~370mm (4:3) focal length in still image mode.
This handycam will hit the market on March 3rd in Japan

As part of its ongoing cost-cutting and reorganization effort, Sony Corp. has cut its line of robotic Aibo dogs, along with another, more-expensive, humanoid robot called the Qrio, which was never sold as a product reports ZDNet
According to a company representative, more than 150,000 Aibos have been sold since they went on the market in 1999. But the overall company is in the midst of an historic belt-tightening, and the robotics unit didn't make the cut.

Sony, Japan has announced the elease of 2 new PC's based on the Intel Duo Core.
The SZ series r will come with a 945GM Express or GeForce Go 7400 graphics card and a 13.3" WXGA screen that uses LED's on the high end models. the casing is made out of Carbon Black or Premium Carbon. The CPU's range from a T2300 (1.66GHz) to a T2600 (2.16GHz).
The F TV series, aimed for TV use with their 15.4" screens. The F will get a new Mpeg card for the video part, and will have at least a T2300 at 1.66Ghz, a 160GB HDD, a DL burner and a 945GX Xpress graphics card that offers a 1280x800 resolution.

Sony this week unveiled its new Sony XDCAM HD system including two new camcorders and two decks. The same Professional Disc media used in the standard definition version of the XDCAM system is also compatible with the new HD version. Now, professional users can record up to two hours of high definition content on the versatile optical media, maintaining their workflow continuity by combining HD resolution with the same IT-based benefits.

Sony, Japan has announced a Franz Ferdinand Limited edition of their NW-A1000 MP3 Player. The Black colored NW-A1000 has the jacket design of Franz Ferdinand's album "You Could Have It So Much Better" in the front and photos of band's members at the back in white. In addition to this it also has a special message from the band preloaded on the hard drive also an autographed card is bundled with the player
The Sony NW-A1000 Franz Ferdinand Limited Edition will be available for 33,000 Yen ($ 300). Only 100 pieces will be sold starting from January 26.

A new survey sent out by Sony to members of the media and others within the gaming community has sent the rumor mill in overdrive over the nature of questions. The survey questions indicate that the company is considering a Xbox Live type service. Some of the most intriguing questions ask about PC to PSP to PS3 interfacing, standard USB keyboard support, Eyetoy-compatible lobbies and in-game media sharing.

Sony has begun offering $500 trade-in bonuses on Dell notebooks and paying solution providers additional incentives reports informationWeek.
"I think that's actually great," said Andrew Krantz, senior account manager at Westwood Computer, a solution provider and Sony partner based in Springfield, N.J. "Anything that targets Dell is good. Dell has a unique way of stealing business, so any way we could steal business back is positive."
Sony's trade-in offer of $500 for working Dell systems tops the $300 it provides for trade-ins on all other systems for Vaio BX series notebooks. Sony said the rebate can be claimed by solution providers for their clients.
