Vertu has announced the Ascent Ferrari 60 Limited Edition to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Ferrari.

The Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60 is inspired by the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and features wallpapers and ringtones of it. The Ascent is made of titanium and uses the same philips screws as used on Ferrari cars as well as using the same leather as used for the seats of Ferrari cars

The FCC has approved Vertu's 3G Ascent Ti.

The new phone offers UMTS 2100 (for 3G data), a 3-megapixel autofocus camera with flash and a Vertu customized build of Series 40.

$5,700 Vertu Ascent Motorsport rolled over by 2003 Porsche Boxster 5 times

When Vertu launched the limited edition Vertu Ascent Motorsport earlier this year, the company touted the durability of the handset.

"The Liquidmetal casing of the phone makes it so durable," the release said, "it can even withstand being run over by the very F1 Porsche the design was inspired from."

A reviewer at the New York Times, decided to put the $5700 handset under a Porsche for a test.

Earlier this month, Vertu unveiled the sleek Vertu Ascent White Special Edition following from the success of the Ascent Pink ( yes pink is the new black), launched this spring.

The new aesthetically pleasing variant offers triband capability, Bluetooth, PC sync, modem support, email, MMS, Multilanguage predictive text input and storage for up to 1,000 contacts. Talktime 3 to 6 hours.

Vertu with Diamonds

Vertu, a subsidiary of Nokia, is producing 200 mobile phones decorated with diamonds. The most expensive of the range are believed to be the first mobile handsets to cost in the region of $88,300.

Vertu plans to ship the first of the diamond handsets next week, just in time for the holiday season.
