KDDI and Okinawa Cellular, Japan has announced the "PENCK," a CDMA 1X WIN Hitachi handset set for release in late February. The "PENCK" is the fourth handset to come out of the "au design project." Features include a 2.2" LCD display - 240 x 320 dot resolution capable of displaying 260,000 colors, a 1.24MP CCD camera, 24MB of internal memory, 6.1MB of dedicated space for BREW appli, miniSD card slot, video playback supported with the SD-Video format (ASF), 3D surround sound stereo speakers. Chaku Uta Full, EZ Navi Walker, and Flash are supported.
Measures 57 x 98 x 28mm (W x H x D), and weighs about 134g. The continuous talk time is about 210 minutes, and the continuous idle time about 250 hours. Via TechJapan

Royal Philips Electronics has announced the release of the Nexperia Mobile Multimedia Processor PNX4008, targeted at smartphones market. The Nexperia processor is touted to provide sophisticated video, graphics, imaging, audio and security functions for feature-rich mobile handsets, enabling a wide range of applications for the Connected Consumer. Renesas Technology America has announced the 'SH-Mobile3A' their new mobile phone application processor. The processor is touted to bring improved multimedia to your cell phone including, digital TV broadcasts, 5-megapixel camera modules, audio output, and MPEG-4 to high end mobile handsets. The W21T is new CDMA phone from Toshiba with movie playback, MP3 Player, Bluetooth, QVGA screen, SD Card slot and new rendering engine (T4G which enables the phone to support movie playback and render 3D games with high frame rate). The phone can also be plugged into a TV or a monitor and playback can be viewed on the screen. The W21T features 2.4 inch TFT LCD QVGA - 26,000 colors, 1.2 MP camera, 32MB internal memory or to the SD Card. The phone is available in three colors and is a Japan release only through Kddi.

Vodafone K.K. Japan has announced the addition of the Nec Vodafone 802N handset as part of their 3G lineup. On sale in the Kanto-Koshin region. Siemens today unveiled a trio of handsets it will show off at CeBIT next month. According to theregister.co.uk handsets include the 'DVB-H Concept,' the Gigaset S35 WLAN handset and the Siemens M75.

'DVB-H Concept' can pick up digital TV signals beamed across 3G networks, concept model features a VGA screen, stereo speakers, and support for all the interactivity features you get with regular digital TV. DVB-H is a modified version of the existing DVB-T terrestrial digital TV standard. DVB-H broadcasts in bursts, allowing the receiver to power-down whenever possible, boosting battery life.

Handsets include the Fujitsu's "F700i," the NEC's "N700i," the Panasonic Mobile Communications' "P700i," and the Sharp's "SH700i."
