Nokia%20N93.jpg

mobile-review.com has an indepth review of the Nokia N93.

This handset has no problems with signal reception, voice of interlocutor is clear, just like your own. Volume of 64-tone polyphonic ring tone is average, but in case you choose mp3 file as ring tone, polyphony does not matter that much. Vibrating alert is slightly lower than average, sometimes you may miss a call due to that.

As for video recording, its resolution – this model is best on the market once it will be released, same goes for photo quality, but here difference in photos when compared to Sony Ericsson K790/K800 is insignificant. You will be able to find out more in our stand-alone material, that will be dedicated to photo-part of Nokia N93.

nokia_scentsory_closed.jpg

The winning design, from a contest to create concepts for a premium but mass market mobile device capable of providing 4G or 5G multimedia service was made into a dummy handset for an exhibition in London's Air Gallery this week.

One of the designs, the Nokia Scentsory, is superb, partly because it reminds us of the paper clackers that we used to make many, many years ago in the innocent days of our childhood. In Closed mode you use it like a slim candy bar phone, in open mode you can use the screens and keyboard. But the real piece of resistance is the Scentsory mode that uses scent detectors that "allow you to see, hear, feel and smell your caller's environment".

Pantech&Curitel IM-U100

Pantech Group has announced the introduction of the IM-U100 handset, which is designed to provide users with a “world class” Portable Multimedia Player (PMP) phone, incorporating MP3 player, camera and movie functions.

The IM-U100 phone includes a 2.6 inch wide TFT LCD screen, which is two times larger than the screens on other multimedia handset models in Korea and among the largest of its type in the mobile handset sector globally, ensuring the richest and most visually enhanced multimedia experience for mobile phone users.

The new handset also features an aspect ratio - the ratio of the width of the LCD display screen to the height - of 15:9, considerably in advance of the 4:3 screen ratios of other mobile phones. In practice, this means that - along with high quality loud speaker and visual sound systems - users can avail of a similar picture experience to that found at the movies.

Samsung SCH B500

The SCH B500 is a new 7.7 megapixel camera phone with optical zoom from Samsung, set for release in Korea via SK Telecom.

The slider handset which goes by the name of SCH B500 is quite thick to accomodate the camera lens - 18.5 mm to be precise. The SCH B500 does not simply bank on the credit of having a 7.7 megapixel camera either; its a DMB phone so it can recieve and allow the user to view satellite TV as well. Since the phone can take such high resolution pictures, the user is bound to run out of storage space sooner or later, a problem easily solved by getting T-flash (trans flash) memory cards which the phone supports. The pictures can then be later seen on a TV screen thanks to the TV out function of the SCH B500.

Nokia, Motorola, Intel form alliance for mobile TV

Nokia has teamed up with Intel Corp., Motorola, Texas Instruments and Modeo, owned by Crown Castle International Corp, to promote the DVB-H technology standard for mobile TV.

DVB-H stands for Digital Video Broadcasting: Handhelds

DVB-H is a terrestial digital TV standard that allows the receiving device to move freely while receiving the transmission, thus making it ideal for mobile phones and haldheld computers to receive digital TV broadcasting over the digiTV network (without using mobile phone networks at all).

The tie-up, called the Mobile DTV Alliance, aims to encourage open standards for TV broadcasts to mobiles, focusing on the North American market.

The Mobile DTV Alliance said more than 10 DVB-H network trials are under way or have been completed, including in Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the United States.
