BenQ unveils Blu-ray writer

BenQ Corp., unveiled an optical disk writer which can handle the new Blu-ray high volume DVD storage format selling for 799 euros ($1,022) from August 2006.


A late August launch means that BenQ is one of the first electronics companies to sell a Blu-ray burner, simultaneously or even ahead of the main Blu-ray inventors and promoters Sony Corp, Pioneer and Philips.

Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray Player: NOT Delayed

Despite numerous reports, Samsung's upcoming Blu-ray drive, the BD-P1000 will not be delayed. The BD-P1000 players are already in the U.S., Jim Sanduski, senior vice president of marketing for the Digital Video& Audio group at Samsung says .

Thousands of units are on their way to retailers in the U.S. for floor demonstrations right now. The player will be on sale on June 25 for about $1,000.
