Sony recently introduced the HDR-HC3, a new high-definition camcorder that is small enough to rest comfortably in the palm of your hand. The 18 ounce, 5.5 inch-long HDR-HC3 is touted as the world's lightest and smallest.

HDR-HC3HDV 1080i Handycam is equipped with a 2.7-inch swivel LCD monitor screen.

"People are more savvy about high-definition television, have experienced its visual impact, and now they want the same 'wow factor' for their own home movies," said Linda Vuolo, director for camcorder products at Sony Electronics. "Sony has made great strides in creating the consumer HDV market over the past two years and now we are expanding it even further."

The device, 26% more compact than the previous model, is set to go on sale next month in Japan for $1,300 and in April in the United States for $1,700.
