Nintendo Revolution to be unveiled on May 9, 2006


Nintendo will announce its next-generation games console, Revolution, next May, the company has revealed. The date has been set at May 9, 2006. The company had till now revealed little about this console and this news brings some relief to the Nintendo fans who are waiting for the replacement of the GameCube gaming console from the company reports TechWhack


Nintendo's pre-E3 announcement suggests Revolution will appear later in the year - presumably, like the 360, timed for the Thanksgiving and Christmas buying period reports the register.







Microsoft's 'Fremont'

Microsoft is set to begin testing its own version of Google Base, a free service introduced by Google six weeks ago. Codenamed "Fremont", the service will allow users to post listings.

Fremont will be tied into the company's new Live.com, where users will be able to view local listings from their personalized pages. Microsoft has begun testing the service from fremont.live.com, however access has been restricted to Redmond employees reports Red Herring







Invisible Liquid Condom

Some smart/cool people have developed a developed liquid condom for women.

The new product, making use of naometer and physical foaming technologies, is said to be easy to apply, anti-bacteria and lubricating. The invisible condom, developed by a company in south China's Guangdong Province, has won approval from the province's drug administration and is now available in drugstores in the country.

Sprint and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) yesterday introduced two new handsets - the Sprint Power Vision(SM) Phone MM-A920 by Samsung(r) and the Sprint Power Vision(SM) Phone MM-A900 by Samsung(r).


The MM-A920, with its embedded music player and external music navigation controls, provides access to thousands of songs for instant download and easy access. With an expansion slot that houses up to 512MB of TransFLASH memory, the MM-A920 allows music lovers to easily store and transfer their favorite tunes, images and videos.

Measuring just over a half-inch thick, the ultra-compact MM-A900 is the thinnest Power Vision phone available from Sprint. Made of magnesium, a lightweight metal, the handset's unique look and feel will delight the fashion-conscious user. In addition, the sleek handset's large, crisp display and stereo speakers are ideal for watching live TV with full-motion video with vivid sound.

Both phones include numerous powerful features including:

* 1.3 mega-pixel camera/camcorder with a flash and zoom
* PictBridge-enabled printing capabilities
* Bluetooth(r) wireless technology for hands-free connectivity

Kaleidoscope 'Mac mini project'

Sources spilling to thinksecret, say Apple's Mac mini will be reborn as the digital hub centerpiece. The new Mac mini project, code-named Kaleidoscope, will feature an Intel processor and include both Front Row 2.0 and TiVo-like DVR functionality.

While the specific model and speed of the Intel processor in the new Mac mini is unknown, sources are confident the system will be ready for roll-out at Macworld Expo San Francisco, in line with other reports Think Secret has received that Intel-based Macs will be ready some six months sooner than originally expected.

The new Mac mini is also said to sport a built-in iPod dock, a feature that was scrapped from the Mac mini Apple first introduced one year ago.







PSP adds support for RSS, WMA in new firmware update

Sony has released version 2.60 of the PlayStation Portable firmware in Japan and North America, expanding on the functionality of the console with the addition of features including WMA audio playback and RSS feed reading.

The RSS capability uses RSS 2.0 technology to link to RSS-distributed audio content. Content can be accessed in MP3 or MP4 format. Only digital audio content will be supported by the RSS feature.


Another update in this version is the ability to download copyright-protected video data directly to a Memory Stick Duo.







Firefox 1.5

One year after the debut of Firefox 1.0, and more than 100 million downloads later, Mozilla has released Firefox 1.5, the latest version of its acclaimed open source Browser.

Firefox 1.5, which is available as a free download from www.Mozilla.com, will aim to build on the success of last year’s Firefox 1.0, which won a cult following among users who say the software is slicker and more secure than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE), the market leader reports Times.

Improvements included in Firefox 1.5 include automatic updates, faster surfing speeds and drag-and-drop page tabs designed to make the product more user friendly.

The Mozilla Foundation is planning to use the SpreadFirefox website to showcase user-submitted videos of Firefox fans talking about the product as part of a marketing blitz due to raise the profile of the already popular browser. Recent figures from web analytics firm OneStat.com suggest Mozilla-based browsers have a total global usage share of 11.51 per cent in a market still dominated by Microsoft's ubiquitous IE browser software reports the register
