Over the course of 1 year, I have seen a lot more shiny stuff than I ever dreamed I would see. It's been an interesting year, lots of hate mail and tips -- most in Japanese, nevertheless - I enjoy doing this Site.
After I was dumped from Google News in May, I grew bored with Ployer, to be fair once I got onto Google News my focus changed to fit that format, as oppose to my original vision for the site (hot gadget news and reviews). Whilst on the Google News service I averaged about 10k unique visitors a day, after I was dumped with no explanation (THANKS GOOGLE - I, AM WAITING ON YOUR EMAIL) , my numbers dropped. I guess being dropped was a blessing in disguise, after a few days of sulking and watching my adsense go to shit, I got back on track with my original focus for the site.
The pain of watching my plans for Dior Homme go through the window was hard.
I am now averaging 6k unique visitors day thanks to a search engine like Yahoo. I love Google, and I always use it, but I find the ranking system very puzzling. Example - sometimes I am the first English source to break a story from a Japanese source, when other sites run the story -- crediting my site, they show up on Google before me, which is ridiculous. Funny, sometimes blogs with 10 visitors show up before me. I have a Page Rank of 6. Yes, I had to throw that in there, and that comment is in no way whining. I know lots of people work just as hard as I do on their sites, but for some reason Google has never shown any SE love to my sites and I have lots. Since Google just happens to be the largest Search Engine, it is a big deal. I have held that in for months. Feels Good to get it out
Growth is slower than I would like but it is rewarding to know that a lot of visitors are repeat. THANK YOU GUYS & GALS.
I totally went off on a tangent -- back to matter so I got bored with Ployer after the Google News dumpingn - add that to all the new products looking the same. My spark was rekindled with my love for dual core and the rest is history. Now that I have seen the Revolution Controller, I am reminded of why I decided to launch the site.
The future, I am currently learning Chinese, so a Ployer Chinese edition should be up in a few months. For the record : This was planned long before other blogs launched multi language editions. I plan on more reviews and just bringing you guys more steamy gadget news from Japan. And finally I am working on implementing comments.
Thanks for visiting. I appreciate it.
Bryan.
