next version of the BlackBerry will use Intel Hermon processor

Intel Corp., the world's largest semiconductor maker, won its first order for a new mobile-phone processor in a contract to sell chips for Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry devices reports Bloomberg

The next version of the BlackBerry, a combination mobile phone and e-mail pager, will use the processor, codenamed Hermon, Intel said in a statement today. Hermon is a baseband processor, the key chip that runs the basic functions of phones.
