Sprint and Motorola Plan a Joint Effort on WiMax Technology

Wimax

Sprint and Motorola have announced plans to develop technology for next-generation high-speed wireless technology - WiMax. These services are expected to allow people with laptops, personal digital assistants and other portable devices to connect to the Internet at speeds comparable to the broadband connections used in homes and offices reports New York Times.

The services would be similar to the data cards now used in laptop computers that allow consumers to surf the Web and send e-mail, except the speeds would be far faster. The service would also provide fast connections for both receiving and sending data, which will make it easier to provide gaming and interactive television, among other services.
