Sony's next generation hardware console, Playstation 3 will be available spring of 2006, just after the scheduled launch of Xbox 360 by Microsoft. If, and this is a big if Sony could somehow squeeze the Playstation 3 by Christmas, it would be a very interesting battle with Microsoft's Xbox 360.


High-definition and networking features are two of the PlayStation 3 high points. The device will support the 1080p HD TV standard -- the highest current resolution of HD televisions -- and will have built-in Bluetooth, WiFi and Gigabit Ethernet networking.

The cell processor used by Playstation 3 is jointly developed by Sony group, Toshiba Corp and IBM and is reported to be much powerful than the most powerful Pentium processor in the market. More
