Hitachi, Japan has announced the "DV-DH161T" a new 160GB HDD recorder. Set for release early June, expected price 130, 000 Yen.

In addition, Hitachi announced the "DV-RV8500" VHS/DVD player set for release middle of June. Expected price 50,000 Yen.

The Hitachi DV-DH161T is a low end version of the DV-DH160T hi-vision recorder announced last November. Features include 160GB HDD , BS/110 CS digital broadcast and terrestrial analog tuner support , DVD-RAM 5x speed, DVD-RW 4x speed, DVD-R 8x speed, supports playback of DVD+R/RW, video recording modes XP/SP/LP/EP , DVD-RAM/RW and input from DVD cam "Wooo" support. Measures 430x330x68mm and weighs approximately 5.4kg.

The Hitachi DV-RV8500 VHS video and 2 in 1 recorder (DVD super multiple drive) features DVD-RAM/RW (VR/ video mode), DVD-R (video mode), the video recording to DVD+R/RW support, input from DVD cam "Wooo" support, MP3/WMA/JPEG file playback (CD-R/RW), VHS deck supports playback of S-VHS, tuner section corresponds to the reception of VHF/UHF/CATV. Video recording mode XP/SP/LP/EP.
