Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony are all expected to give details on the next generation of video-game consoles, all three of which are expected to hit the market over the next year and a half. Microsoft looks to lead the pack with the "official" unveiling of the next generation Xbox, called Xbox 360 a week ahead of E3, slated for May 16 to May 20 in Los Angeles, . Microsoft will preview Xbox 360 to the world (people without access to the internet) on Thursday via an MTV special. The Xbox 360 console is expected this November for $300 & $360.


Photos of the new Xbox console reveal that Xbox 360 is slightly concave, features an oversized power button, wireless headset and DVD remote.

Most major software publishers are expected to unveil Xbox 360 titles at E3, many of which will be playable on the show floor. And industry experts suggest that the Xbox 360 will pack many functions that will take the machine beyond simple gameplay reports Wired.com

According to Gaming Horizon, the new Xbox 360 is powered by a central processing unit that contains three symmetrical cores that each run at 3.2 GHz and a customized ATI graphics processor that runs at 500 MHz.

The console also features a removable 20-GB hard drive, built-in Wi-Fi for wireless networking, and can play a variety of DVD and CD formats, including DVD-video, DVD-ROM, DVD-R/RW, CD-R, CD-RW and CDs with MP3 and WMA files, the Web site said.
