Oracle would love technology war with SAP AG

German business software giant SAP AG, yesterday announced their intention to add 3,000 employees this year in a bid to boost its software revenue. 500 of the jobs will be here in the US where SAP America Inc. employs approximately 5,000. SAP also announced that in the fourth quarter, the company earned $703 million. a 29 percent increase from the fourth quarter of 2003. Calling 2005 a "year of investment," Europe's largest software company said it was pushing to win market share at a time when Oracle was busy with the integration of PeopleSoft. In other news Oracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison yesterday said Oracle is up for technology war with business applications software leader SAP AG in a bid to increase his software company profits from its recently completed takeover of PeopleSoft Inc.
