Cheap G4 iMac - $500

Apple

ThinkSecret reports on news(rumors) of a $500 iMac computer codenamed "Q88" set to be unveiled at the Macworld 2005 show January. As the iPod continues to dominate the portable audio market Apple hopes to capitalize on that success with this low cost model. The model will have no display unit. The Q88 is rumored to feature a 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 processor, small form and will be housed in a flat enclosure with a height similar to the 1.73 inches of Apple's Xserve, 256MB of RAM, USB 2.0, FireWire 400, 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet, 56K V.92 modem and AirPort Extreme support.

If true, this could expand Apple's computer market share. I am sure some Apple enthusiast will not be too happy about their elite baby crossing over to masses.
