ACR's Terrafix 406 Personal Locator Beacon

Digital Cameras

If you happen to be caught out in the wilderness on one of your little hiking trips and something happens like a big snow ball just rolls over you -- say you have absolutely no cell phone signal and need help -- if you have the TerraFix 406 Personal Locator Beacon by ACR Electronics you could be so saved. The TerraFix 406 is a 12 ounce, pocket-sized Locator with GPS. In the event of an emergency - (being lost in the Central Park does not qualify as an emergency), you simply push a button to activate the PLB, and search-and-rescue crews will be notified that you need help like yesterday.

The beacon transmits a distress signal to the orbiting COSPAS-SARSAT satellites, which will include your location with information that would lead recuers withing 100 yards of you.

Lithium battery that lasts for 5 years

$640, the Terrafix 640 PLB will be available from the ACR Web site and through selected dealers.
