Sharp has announced the introduction of a 1/1.8" 8 megapixel CCD with primary color filter and a 9mm diagonal sensor - this will make the "RJ21V3BA0ET" is the highest resolution interline CCD for its size. The "RJ21V3BA0ET" is capable of recording VGA-size, 30fps video and is packaged in a 32-pin Small Outline Package. This CCD will make way for faster production & even smaller devices.

Samples will ship from the end of October with full-scale production to begin from January 2005. The sample price is 8,400 yen.
